Almost a month after the scarcity of premium motor spirit threw the country into an energy crisis, indications emerged, yesterday, that the situation may go from bad to worse, as prices at the pump rose to over N300 per litre in some filling stations across the country, especially those owned by independent marketers. Although the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited had said in Abuja that 2.3 billion litres of additional premium motor spirit were being imported into the country to complement existing one billion litres as part of measures to address fuel scarcity, The Guardian gathered, yesterday, that most marketers, especially depot owners who had made payment for products since December last year, were yet to receive the consignment. 18-year-old girl arrested while trying to sell kidnapped boy Blessing John, an 18-year-old girl, has been apprehended by the police in Adamawa State while searching for a ritualist to buy a boy she allegedly kidnapped daily post reported. She was alleged to have lured the boy from Michika, her neighbourhood, and took him to Mubi in search of a buyer. DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, explained that Blessing John was arrested as a result of a tip-off. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has decided to deploy the NATO Response Force to thwart Russia’s attack on Ukraine . NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced in a press conference on Friday “What we see now is a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine,” Mr Stoltenberg said in a press conference on Friday, warning that Russian forces are moving towards Kyiv. “We are deploying elements of the NATO Response Force to further strengthen our posture and to respond quickly to any contingency,” he added.
