PDP National Convention: Oyo Chapter Praises Makinde, Commends State Party Delegates Over Show Of Loyalty

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Oyo State chapter, has hailed the Executive Governor, Seyi Makinde, over what it called practical exemplary leadership over the outcome of the just concluded party's national convention held in Abuja.

The ruling party in Oyo State also commended the party's delegates from the State for their show of total loyalty to the leadership of the party headed by Governor Seyi Makinde at the party's national convention saying that the Governor deserves all forms of accolades he is getting from the outcome of the just concluded national convention of the party.

The Party made this disclosure in a press statement personally e-signed by the PDP State Chairman, Honourable Dayo Ogungbenro, and made available to newsmen by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr Akeem Olatunj, on Thursday November 4th.

The party explained that the outcome of the party's national convention has clearly shown to all Nigerians and the rest of the world that PDP being the largest political party in Africa has learned from its past mistakes leading to 2015 defeat to the ruling party noting that the party is now more formidable and ready to take back the reins of power come 2023.

It is noteworthy to specially commend our leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for his practical exemplary leadership especially as the Governor and also as the overall leader of our great party, PDP in Oyo State and the entire south west Nigeria.

Anyone who thinks such feat was easy to achieve politically should go and find out from our noisy and crisis ridden opposition. It only takes a genuine leader with the political will who has emerged as a rallying figure in our political landscape such as Governor Makinde to achieve such feat.

We also want to specially commend our party's delegates especially, elders, leaders, members of the national and State assemblies on the platform of Oyo State PDP for their show of loyalty to the party and the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

The outcome of our party convention which produced Dr Iyorchia Ayu, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja and other National Executives of the party is a clear statement that PDP in Oyo State has learnt from its pitfall in 2011 in the State and 2015 in Nigeria's general election which has further affirmed that PDP is back and back to stay for a long time. "The party's statement said".

The party in the press statement congratulates Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja for the deserving victory as it describes Arapaja as a dogged, resilient, honest and a straightforward politician with lots of experience to move the party forward.

The ruling party also advised the State chapter of the All Progressive Congress to borrow from the wealth of experience deployed by the PDP to conduct a carnival-like party congress at all levels.

The ruling party noted that the way and manner Oyo State APC members with unbridled political aspirations went about last week Saturday chasing each other with arms and ammunition leading to destruction of each others properties and bringing back the inglorious days of terror under the APC government and creating apprehension in the minds of residents of Ibadan especially those on Ring road (Liberty road axis) describing it as very unfortunate.

Oyo PDP however, berated the Oyo state APC saying that were it not for the PDP congress holding in Abuja last Saturday, the level of public apprehension created in the minds of residents of Ibadan last Saturday leading to security operatives locking APC members outside the venue of the opposition's party congress in Oyo state would have as usual been ascribed to Park Managers in the State under the leadership of Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi Auxiliary.

We can only urge leaders of the opposition party in the State to ensure they conduct their members responsibly such that they do not flout public peace in the name of politicking because the law will certainly take its full course if their members disaffection is allowed to degenerate into threatening public safety and peace. "The party concluded".
