OYO APC TEETHING COMPLICATIONS, A PERENNIAL LIFE THREATENING OCCURRENCE |DEJI OLA

First of all, I will like to congratulate Oyo state APC for their steadfastness in moving from the first phase of opposition life to the next but it is shameful seeing them undergoing series of teething complications while their counterpart in other states are doing wonderfully well in their roles.

It is now crystal clear that they are still undergoing teething and this is tantamount to the fact that there are no vibrant and effective opposition in the pace setter state. Even, I always laugh at their renew efforts to group with other opposition parties in the state but the result is still nothing to write home about as they are all hell bent in leaving issues which can directly impact people's lives to discuss non-issues.

Apparently none of those parties are playing genuine role of a strong opposition. Instead of picking up valid points of interest, issues that will do people of Oyo state good, they decided to be discussing ruling party  related internal issues. One will wonder what has our party issues got to do with APC?

Their renewed efforts to distract our God's sent man is dead on arrival. No wonder they keep exaggerating recent security challenges in the  state while neglecting the fact that it's a nationwide quagmire which calls for total overhauling of security architecture of the entire country. Have they ever taken their time to ask why President Muhammadu Buhari is refusing to inject new blood to the leadership of Defence Headquarters. The only mantra we keep hearing from his media aid is that he has right to fire and hire and that Nigerians can never stampede him to make haste decision.

It's only few people  who are not students of history that can forget how he vetoed Former EFFC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu on Nigerians despite series of indictment from constituted agencies. The same thing is currently playing out with the Service Chiefs. It's visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that these set of people have exhausted their ideas and the need to allow fresh people with fresh ideas into the system can never be over-emphasized.

Back to Oyo state, it is only enemy of progress that will close his or her eyes on Seyi Makinde's landslide achievements on security and this is not unconnected with his outstanding approach to issues.

However, has the opposition in the state easily forgotten that GSM is one of the few Governors who prioritised Security in the country? This is evident in his continued funding of the sector. Few months after his  inauguration as the numero uno citizen in the state, he donated 100 patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force to ease their operation. These vehicles are well equipped with first class communication gadgets. Later in year 2020, he donated another round of patrol vehicles to Nigerian Police Force.

Is it not too early to forget that he adopted Operation Burst as part of his strategies to curb insecurity in the state having critique their mode of operations, is this not laudable considering the fact that his predecessor was from another party. Different crime alerts applications, USSD and free toll line (615) were also launched to address all forms of insecurity in the state. We are also fully aware of the lead role H.E Seyi Makinde played during the formation of the Southwest Security Apparatus codenamed "Operation Amotekun" and it is also a known fact that Oyo state is the only state with the largest number of  Amotekun workforce in the entire south west.

I think it is mischievous faulting GSM for the recent security challenges despite all efforts which he has put in place. It's also pertinent to set the record straight, the insecurity in Ibarapa and other part of Oke ogun is not alien to us as it's always alleged to be  work of killer Fulani herdsmen. The spill-over effect of the last civil unrest also need to be critically looked into.

Meanwhile, this is not an excuse from my own part as I am more than sure that his Excellency is working all round the clock to avert any future occurrence.

We are all stakeholders in this, we should all activate our whistle blowing strategies, once we notice any form of usual patrol around our vicinity, it's important we quickly call operation Burst on the free toll 615. It's also important to advise those playing around the free toll line to desist from such act. This line should only be called when there is serious security challenges.

On Oyo state APC, I quite understand that they are in their teething state, I will only advise them to treat their perennial complications in order to give them room to move to another phase in their opposition roles. No doubt, Oyo state people are expecting them to bring vibrant opposition on board so that my Principal will always be on his toe to continue bringing dividend of democracy down to the nooks and crannies of the state. They should not forget that this roles will take them nothing less than 40 years to even move closer to Agodi Government house, so the more they leave petty issues the better for them.
