KEEP IBADAN CLEAN: FRIENDS OF DEJI OLA CLEANS IBADAN NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The renowned Non-Governmental Organization that is known to have consist of numerous brilliant professional and enterprising youths in the State and beyond is at it again today Saturday 25th September 2021 for their monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The team converged at the early hour of 6am to carry out the exercise with over 55 volunteers from all the 33 local government in the state for the cleaning, sweeping, sanitation, and beautification of the popular Mokola roundabout axis of Ibadan the local government.
The exercise was graced by many dignitaries like the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Yusuff Shuaib (Agba Egbe), Hon. Olajide Royal Umbrella, The Speaker of Ibadan North Legislative arm, the personal assistant to the Chief of Staff Hon. Adeyemo Adedeji Ola, the Coordinator of the Team Bashorun Adeniji Abiodun Saintabey and others numerous
The officers of Oyo state waste management Authority were also available and provided compactor vehicle which was used to evacuate all packed refuses under Mokola overhead bridge.
In the course of the exercise, It was observed that there is need for public enlightenment and enforcement on proper waste disposal as this is the only way to ensure cleaner environment free from diseases and disease causing vectors. Apparently, the NGO has all it takes to partner with the Government in order to be more effective.
The Convener, comrade Deji Ola during his own remark appreciated all volunteers for their continued supports and also frown at law breaking citizens who have turned the bridge to their personal house. He promised that his team will never deviate from their decision to continue supporting Engr. Seyi Makinde on his mission to reposition Oyo state to its pace setting status.
FOD members also use the rare opportunity to engage Hon. Agba Egbe on the need for proposal on creation of a task force to ensure proper usage of a public properties, this no doubt will ameliorate challenges of Diseases and other issues which may arise.
They made references to the recent outbreak of cholera in some states.
During his own speech, the local Government Chairman, Hon. Agba Egbe who actively participated in the exercise appreciated the NGO for the initiative and also promised to take drastic actions in order to curtail the habit of improper waste disposal in the axis and the local government at large.
