Makinde bags Oyo NUJ's 'Best Media-Friendly Gov' ...as chapter flags off 2021 Press Week The Oyo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has named the Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde,  the 'Best Media-Friendly Governor in the history of the Pacesetter State. PRESS RELEASE Oyo Sanctions 80 For Violating Environmental Law   About 80 persons have been arrested during the week in Ibadan by the State’s Environmental Task Force for violating the environmental laws. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni who revealed that the Task Team apprehended offenders at Gate, Aleshinloye, Eleyele, Sabo, Apata, Iwo-road, Ojoo, Moniya, U.I-Agbowo, Sango and General Gas areas in Ibadan. In their separate judgements, Chairmen of the State’s Environmental Protection Tribunal, Barr. Saheed Ganiyu and Barr. Kunle Abimbola disclosed that the eighty persons were caught dumping refuse in unauthorized places, hence they are guilty of violating the environmental laws of the state. Oyo State Government has suspended a female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan, vowing to take further action on the matter in due course. The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem stated this today, after a meeting with key Education stakeholders in Ibadan today. Expressing the displeasure of Oyo State government over the incident, which led to her suspension, Adbu-Raheem disclosed that the student in company of her mother, recently invaded the school with hefty thugs and miscreants assaulting a male student, teachers and other parents during an ongoing PTA meeting. JUST IN: Oyo’s VAT Revenue Higher Than Total Collection Of 17 Northern State According to goalpoacher LAGOS, Oyo and Rivers states has the highest Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue, subsidise the other 33 states with respect to VAT as the trio take far less than they generate while the other states earn more from the sales tax than they contribute into the federation account. Nigerian Tribune’s analysis of VAT revenue generation and allocation between January and August 2021 revealed that although Lagos State generated N429.203 billion, the state only got N139.587 billion (32.52 per cent) of VAT revenue generated. In the same vein, Rivers State generated N90.293 billion within the same period but got N46.270 billion (51.24 per cent), while Oyo State generated N64.646 billion but was allocated 45.136 billion (69.8 per cent).  Nigerian Tribune findings also showed that the revenue generated by Oyo State in the period under review is more than the total amount generated by 17 ...

The son of a former Governor of Oyo state, Hon Dapo Lam Adesina has apologized to a radio caller and other pensioners in the state for the failure of the government led by late Abiola Ajimobi to pay their monthly pension regularly. EFCC on Tuesday, arrested a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode. New gathered according to daily post said  that the human rights lawyer was nabbed over alleged manipulation and forgery of documents. He has been reportedly whisked to the Lagos Zonal Office of the anti-graft agency. Veteran Nigerian comic actor, Babatunde Omidina nicknamed Baba Suwe is dead.  One of his children, Adesola Omidina, broke the news of his death on his official Instagram handle on Monday afternoon. He described his death as sudden and pathetic. Sometimes ago, I had to refer to a Senator as " Abegi Senator" because his media guys were trying to take credit for the job their Principal didn't do and it was then that it occurred to me that if theirs is Abegi, then mine would be Efiko. It was the common slang on campus (I don't know if it is still prevalent) to call the serious students "Efiko" and the unserious ones "Abegi Guys". The latter are mostly male students while the former is for both male and female. Abegi describes the place of shelter or lounge on campus for the truants. There are peculiarities of both group of students; Abegi: they don't attend lectures and the few classes they attend, they are nuisance and distraction to other students. It is the right of every child to go to school, receive quality education and imbibe values of global citizenship. Stakeholders in the Education sector have been bothered about the unfortunate pool of gifted but wasted children, because of the increasing deprivation they suffer to quality basic education, in Nigeria. Ironically, before the emergence of the present administration in Oyo State, such spike of the number of out-of-school children was applicable to the State. An unfortunate decline some leaders in the Pacesetter State were never ashamed of.
