Nigeria Police Force Honours Makinde, Fakorede with Scrabble Award
The Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with the Oyo State government hosted the first IGP National Scrabble Championship today at Hidden Treasure Hotel and Suites, Oluyole. The event was anchored by the Nigerian Scrabble Federation and had in attendance the President, Nigerian Scrabble Federation, Chief Oloba Toke and scrabble players across the country.
The Force Sports Officer, DCP P. A. Atayero who represented the Inspector General of Police commends the State government for investing massively in youth and sports development and also appreciate the government for allowing the State to host the programme which is first of its kind as far as the Police Force is concerned.
Atayero, while presenting the Police Scrabble Support award on behalf of the Inspector General of Police to the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE who was represented by his SA Project Delivery, Abiodun Oluwaseun Laurel, charged the State government not to relent in engaging the youths in order to make them productive and also reduce crime rate in the country.
Delivering the goodwill message of the Governor at the event, Oluwaseun commends the initiative and also assure the Police Force of the readiness of the State government to support such initiative in every means possible as part of the effort of the State government to show commitment in sports activities.
The Governor made it known that "law enforcement job cannot be carried out when the mental and psychological wellbeing of security operatives is not constantly developed and refreshed through initiatives as the Scrabble Competition."
The Force Scrabble Award to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. 'Seun Fakorede was also received on his behalf by the SA Project Delivery to the Governor, Abiodun Oluwaseun.
